BRING ON 2011 – MARK

New Zealand First sport and recreation spokesperson Ron Mark wishes to congratulate the New Zealand Rugby Union on its successful bid for hosting rights to the Rugby World Cup in 2011.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for New Zealand. A lot of hard work went into the bidding process, and to be rewarded with this outcome is incredibly exciting.

"I would like to offer a personal congratulations to New Zealand Rugby Union Chairman Jock Hobbs and Chief Executive Chris Moller, who ensured the bid had the best chance of success.

"Provincial rugby unions, local bodies and stadia who supported the efforts to research and prepare the bid can also be very proud of what they have worked so hard to achieve.

"The players, the fans and the rest of New Zealand can now look forward to being a part of this huge international sporting event," said Mr Mark.
