Collins concerned by apparent privacy breach

National Party MP Judith Collins says she is concerned by the apparent breach of privacy surrounding the David Benson-Pope police report.

“I am very concerned that details from this yet-to-be-made public report have appeared in the media before being officially released by the police tomorrow.

“Only on Friday Mr Benson-Pope was seeking to have amendments made, so this premature release must also be of grave concern to the Police Commissioner, as the proper process does not appear to have been followed.

“Mr Benson-Pope has continually said that it is for the police to release the report.

“I will be writing to the Police Commissioner requesting he make some inquiries with a view to reassuring the public that private information held by the police hasn’t been released by any police official for political gain,” says Ms Collins.
