Merry Christmas To The Frontline
New Zealand First Law and Order spokesperson Ron Mark today extended his well wishes to all of New Zealand’s frontline police for the upcoming holiday period.
“Although many will be on duty over this time, frontline police will be buoyed by the news that 1000 extra frontline officers will be joining them over the next three years, as part of New Zealand First's confidence and supply agreement with the government” said Mr Mark.
“But the good news doesn’t end there. We have also secured additional non-sworn staff and extra equipment to support the front line staff increase.
“In addition, New Zealand First has secured an undertaking from the government that the ultimate aim is to have frontline officer ratios comparable to those in Australia by 2010.
“These announcements are the best Christmas presents the government could have offered to frontline police and New Zealand First looks forward to working with the government to ensure the agreed targets are met,” concluded Mr Mark.
