Party pill promotion irresponsible

Promoting a party pill as ‘a new breed of speed’ is irresponsible, says National MP Jacqui Dean.

The MP will be making a complaint to the Advertising Standards Complaints Board over advertising of the party pill Silver Bullet. Mrs Dean has also launched a petition to have party pills reclassified.

The high profile advertisement describes Silver Bullet party pills as a ‘new breed of speed’. The ads feature on large posters at outlets and on cards often sought by young people.

"I fear that this ad is glamorising drug use and the association with speed is unfortunate.

"Last week, I launched a petition to reclassify party pills and to ask for more research into the effects of BZP on people.

"Party pills are nothing but a bullet to the brain. They should be banned.

"These ads should be pulled. They send all the wrong messages to our young people. The community must take a stand and we need the Advertising Standards Complaints Board to support us," says Mrs Dean.
