PM to launch environmental business programme

Prime Minister to launch environmental business programme

February 21, 2006

North Shore City's beach and business hub, Takapuna, is to play host to the country's Prime Minister and the launch of a national business environmental programme, which will change the face of business management across the regions.

New Zealand's fourth largest city is the natural location for the event, which takes place on Tuesday, February 28, as the initial programme pilot was developed by North Shore City Council and was then extended into a regional pilot.

Twenty-two councils in nine regions throughout the country will promote the new national programme, which allows for the recruitment of over 500 businesses.

Helen Clark will address the event, which will witness the unveiling of a new programme name, brand and details about the biggest co-ordinated environmental programme for businesses this country has seen.

The Bruce Mason Centre is the venue for the environmental showcase, which has gained extensive political and business buy-in.

"This is a land-mark event in terms of the national progress of environmental business management which North Shore City is excited to be guiding and hosting," says Mayor George Wood.

"The Prime Minister will be speaking and local and regional businesses will present their experiences to their peers and an audience of mayors, chairs, chief executives and business representatives from every corner of the country," he says.
