Medicines strategy: What's the hold-up?

The Government's attempt to review its medicines strategy is "a day late and a dollar short," says National Party Associate Health spokeswoman Dr Jackie Blue.

She is commenting on the Government's draft medicines strategy, which Peter Dunne announced today, but which won't be available for public consultation until November.

"Why is it taking so long? Why is the consultation document not going to be available until a full year after United Future negotiated its confidence and supply deal with Labour?"

Dr Blue says there is still no opportunity for members of the public to tell their own stories.

"The human toll must be factored into any decisions made about access to medicines, and so far the public hasn't been given any opportunity to have their say."
