Families Commission should stop playing politics

Judith Collins MP National Party Families Spokeswoman

1 May 2006

Time for Families Commission to stop playing politics

It's time Rajen Prasad stopped bowing down to his political masters and started looking after the needs of families, says National's Families spokeswoman, Judith Collins.

She is commenting on the Families Commission's acceptance that the WellChild 24-hour helpline will improve as a result of a new provider taking over the service at the expense of PlunketLine.

"If the Families Commission did their job and asked families what they want, they would find that PlunketLine is a service people know and trust. Plunket has been giving good advice to Kiwi mothers and babies for generations.

"The Families Commission should stop playing politics and stick up for the families it is supposed to be representing," says Ms Collins.
