The New Zealand National Party will hold its 70th Annual Conference in Christchurch this weekend – the first time the party has come together since last year’s election.

“This year the party has a record number of delegates attending, for a post-election conference,” says National Party President Judy Kirk.

“National has a lot to celebrate. The party is in a very strong position.

“We nearly doubled our party vote at last year’s election and we increased our caucus to 48. Membership has grown markedly in the past few months.

“This conference will be a time for Leader Don Brash and myself to congratulate party volunteers on their outstanding contributions to the campaign effort,” says Mrs Kirk.

The conference will feature a Families Forum, a Front Bench Forum and a presentation by every member of National’s front bench. The conference highlight will be an address by Party Leader Don Brash on Sunday morning.

The party is expecting a record 500 delegates and observers, mirroring the strong turnouts at this year’s regional party conferences.
