Labour fails to consult on new Solicitor-General
Shadow Attorney-General Chris Finlayson is disappointed but not surprised that Michael Cullen failed to consult National on the appointment of Dr David Collins, QC, as the new Solicitor-General.
“It’s typical of this Government’s arrogance that such an appointment is simply announced without a shred of consultation undertaken beforehand.
“The fact is that this is a hugely important role.
“With Parliament being split almost 50-50, the expectation should be that Labour consults over such important appointments. It is an indictment on Labour that it has failed to do so.”
