No reassurance over radiographers' strike

Dr Jonathan Coleman
National Associate Health Spokesman

No reassurance over radiographers’ strike

The Government has buried its head in the sand over the radiographers' strike, says National’s Associate Health spokesman Dr Jonathan Coleman.

In Parliament today, Associate Minister of Health Damien O'Connor admitted he has no idea whether the radiographers' strike will continue into next week, and is leaving it up to the DHBs to sort out.

"This is completely unacceptable. The Government and the DHBs are more concerned with fiddling the numbers as the waiting list cull deadline approaches than actually getting this industrial action resolved.

“They should be getting the radiographers back to work rather than cooking the books –that is what’s going to get Kiwis the operations they are being denied.

"As usual, the Government is palming off responsibility for what's happening in health. Action is needed, not excuses. We don’t need any more of Hodgson’s culls,” says Dr Coleman.
