Film and Literature Board of Review role for broadcaster

Prominent Māori broadcaster Ani Waaka has been reappointed to the Film and Literature Board of Review, Internal Affairs Minister Rick Barker announced today.

Ms Waaka, of Te Arawa (Tuhourangi and Ngāti Raukawa) descent, is reappointed for a further three years until 31 August 2009.

"Ms Waaka brings strong management and governance experience to the Board. I am delighted to announce her reappointment for a further term," Rick Barker said.

Ms Waaka is a former Chief Executive of the Māori Television Service and the New Zealand Māori Arts & Crafts (NZMAC) Institute. She is a consultant for Tall Poppies Limited, which focuses on developing high performing teams and individuals, and has extensive experience in business and project management, governance and training.

Rick Barker said the organisations that nominated people for the Board and the individuals who made themselves available deserved recognition.

“Individuals who put themselves forward deserve gratitude and respect for their willingness to carry out a task requiring judgment, discernment, and an understanding of public attitudes," said Rick Barker.

The Film and Literature Board of Review is the body that reviews publications that have been classified by the Office of Film and Literature Classification.
