Labour puzzled by Nats' approach to climate change

Climate Change Minister David Parker says he has been left puzzled by National's muddled approach to climate change, following today's question time.

"After the lofty statements of the new climate change believer John Key last week, today's question time confirmed that he and his party have no ideas.

"That's the problem when you utter slogans with no policy behind them.

"The Government already has policies underway to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving the building code, increase the fuel efficiency of the cars New Zealanders drive, introduce biofuels, and promote solar water heating.

"Many more initiatives are being worked on, and will soon be unveiled."

"It's a shame the National Party can't contribute to the solution, instead of spending all its time trying to attack the government's genuine efforts to make headway on a serious global problem."
