Primary healthcare nurses win due recognition, pay rise

The Green Party is delighted at the news that primary healthcare nurses have won a significant 19 percent pay increase, Health Spokesperson Sue Kedgley says.

"Nurses working in primary health are in the frontline of our health system, and it would collapse without them. They play a vital role, especially in preventative healthcare. So, recognition of their work is long overdue." "Primary healthcare nurses deserve full parity with their counterparts in the public health sector, and this settlement brings them close to reaching it. We look forward to them achieving full pay parity in the near future.

"The settlement also recognises the complexity and the increasing responsibility of the work that primary healthcare nurses do.

"We hope this settlement will address the significant nursing shortages in the primary sector, and encourage more young people to choose nursing as a career."
