Technically speaking, Labour has stuffed up

The Labour Government has failed to avert a technology teacher crisis, says National’s Associate Education spokesman, Colin King.

“Labour is responsible for the total collapse of confidence in the once-rewarding and fulfilling teacher career. Now, New Zealand is experiencing the worst skills shortage in 25 years.

“It is now harder than ever to attract young, enthusiastic technology trainee teachers.

“This is just another example of a tired Labour Government letting common sense fly out the window, and doing the simple things wrong.

“Labour will pretend there isn’t a problem until the noise of the public discussion is so loud they’ll try saying they’ve found the solution.

“What’s needed is a more robust interface with industry to recognise the importance of trade training and technology teachers within the compulsory education sector.”
