Convicted killer shouldn’t get ACC
The public
needs an assurance that convicted killer Graeme Burton will
not receive compensation from ACC, says National’s ACC
spokeswoman, Pansy Wong.
Burton has had his leg amputated
following an armed standoff in which he allegedly killed a
father of two.
“It is atrocious to think that someone
who was injured while committing appalling and illegal acts
should be eligible for compensation.
“Under ACC
legislation, the Corporation can apply to the District Court
to stop a previously imprisoned offender from receiving
compensation.
“This is what needs to
happen.
“Minister Dyson should give an absolute
assurance that this criminal will not receive
compensation.”
