Agent Orange clean up welcomed
National’s Veteran’s Affairs spokeswoman, Judith Collins, has welcomed a move by the United States to help clean an Agent Orange storage site in Vietnam.
A
long time campaigner, Ms Collins has worked with veteran’s
groups fighting for recognition for New Zealanders exposed
to the chemical during the Vietnam War.
“Agent Orange was a highly poisonous chemical, which has been linked to many illnesses.
“The chemical, which contained deadly dioxins, has left many people with horrific and ongoing health problems.
“I am sure New Zealand veterans who have lived with the effects of Agent Orange for the past 35 years will be pleased with the move to clean up contaminated soil in Danang.”
