111 failure needs scrutiny
National’s Police spokesman, Chester Borrows is concerned about reports it took police more than seven hours to respond to a man being attacked in his home.
According to media reports, seven hours
after 111 was called, police had still not arrived at the
scene where a man had been allegedly attacked by taggers.
“This sort of failure by police can only lead to a
lack of public confidence,” says Mr Borrows.
"A lack of confidence in the system is dangerous, as members of the public attempt to take matters into their own hands instead of reporting them to police.
"People try and deal with situations on their own and get hurt.
"It is vitally important this terrible incident is scrutinized and explained so the public can be assured it will not occur again."
