National calls for `resolute response' over Fiji's action
The National Party is calling on the Government to make a "resolute response" to any action against the New Zealand High Commissioner in Fiji.
National Party Foreign Affairs spokesman Murray McCully is reacting to reports that New Zealand's High Commissioner in Fiji is expected to be expelled, after being accused of making anti-govt statements.
"The National Party has firmly backed the Government in first warning the Fiji military against any coup activity, and then imposing sanctions," says Mr McCully.
"Media reports of possible action against New Zealand's High Commissioner are a cause of great concern to National, and we call upon the Government to respond resolutely to any such action."
