Auckland Conservation Board appointments
Conservation Minister Chris Carter today announced the appointments for the Auckland Conservation Board.
“I’m pleased to announce that Mr Peter Crabb, Mr Tomui Kaloni and Ms Estella Lee have been reappointed for a second term,” said Mr Carter. “In addition Ms Carmen Kirkwood has been reappointed for a full term after filling a vacancy last year.
“I am confident the current make up of the board represents a broad spectrum of knowledge and a wide range of local communities and will give sound advice to the Department of Conservation on its policy and directions.
“Conservation boards play a vital role in providing independent advice on local conservation issues and a means for local communities to be a part of conservation decisions.”
Department of Conservation Auckland Conservator Sean Goddard welcomed the return of the four board members to the Board.
“I look forward to working with the returning members who have each contributed a wealth of experience combined with important cultural and ethnic links to what has been a highly competent and hard working board,” he said.
The four returning board members will all serve three year terms from 1 September 2007, expiring on 31 August 2010.
