Peters Welcomes 4000th Supergold Outlet

New Zealand First Leader Winston Peters has welcomed the 4000th SuperGold Card business partner outlet and says he is particularly happy with the growth of the card.

“Since the card was launched at the end of August last year it has gone from strength to strength. To go from 188 businesses with 2215 outlets at launch to close to 800 businesses with 4000 outlets in eight months is a wonderful achievement,” said Mr Peters.

“Such growth means the SuperGold card is now as large as comparable cards in several Australian states where such schemes have been in place more than a decade.

“The really good news is that there is more to come with more businesses joining every week. Also, as I announced a fortnight ago, Budget 2008 will contain funding which will ensure that SuperGold Card holders will travel free on public transport during off-peak times.

“Despite the misguided criticism following the initial launch, the numbers now speak for themselves,” said Mr Peters.

“As the card continues to grow, the up-to-date list of business partners can be found at www.supergold.govt.nz.

“Finally, the team behind the SuperGold Card need to be congratulated for their efforts which have led to the card being such a success,” said Mr Peters.
