Key inconsistent on energy – along with everything else
John Key has yet again
been exposed as a politician who tells audiences whatever
they want to hear, Energy Minister David Parker said
today.
According to an email from New Era Energy, the lobby group opposed to the major Waikato to Auckland electricity transmission upgrade, John Key told the group “a change in government” was needed to stop the pylons going ahead.
“This is not what he is telling the Auckland business community, who know the upgrade is essential,” David Parker said.
David Parker tabled a copy of the email in Parliament today.
Meanwhile, in his own Helensville electorate, the Kaukapakapa Residents and Ratepayers Association is complaining that John Key has repeatedly refused to meet with them to discuss their opposition to a proposed fossil-fuel power plant at Rodney.
“Why is John Key willing to meet people in the Waikato to help them fight pylons but he won’t meet with people in his own electorate?” David Parker said.
“The list of times John Key has been caught out saying one thing to one group and the opposite to another grows ever longer.”
