Debates And Coalitions

New Zealand First will not get into debates about debates but is happy to publicly discuss the real issues facing the country at any time any place.

Rt Hon Winston Peters says that he is not interested in trivialising the election by getting into an argument about the merits of a debate between Helen Clark and John Key or any other political figures.

“We also do not intend to get into discussions about forming a government before the election, even though this is a popular media pastime.

“This election is about saving our assets, our jobs, our homes, our families, our communities and our senior citizens.

“We will not be sidetracked into the media circus being created around cooking programmes and discussing pets. It might surprise some media outlets to learn that the election is about people – not some reality TV nonsense,” said Mr Peters.
