MP expresses condolences to Naitoko whanau

E te whanau o Naitoko, o Fuimaono, ka nui te mamae, ka nui te tangi ki a koutou, kua kapohia ohoreretia ta koutou tamaiti, mokopuna e te ringa kaha o aitua.

E kore e tika, kia waiho ma nga matua e tangi ki te tamaiti. Aue te mamae o te ngakau!

Tamaki Makaurau MP Dr Pita Sharples today expressed his deepest sympathies to the Naitoko and Fuimaono families on the tragic death of their son and mokopuna Halatau.

“The death of any child is a terrible tragedy, which goes against the natural order of things. To bury a child must surely be the most difficult burden any person can carry,” said Dr Sharples.

“The circumstances of this death, with all the publicity and public debate, sharpens the pain of the grieving process. I am just so sorry for these families,” he said.

“It is obvious that Halatau was a cherished member of the whanau, a father, partner and son who was mature beyond his years, a worker and contributor to his family and to Aotearoa, who will be greatly missed.

“We all know that, even after the funeral and burial, there will be ongoing inquiries and investigations. As a local MP I will do what I can to support the whanau in their dealings with official agencies,” said Dr Sharples.
