Reappointments to NZ On Air

The Minister of Broadcasting announced today the reappointment of Neil Walter as the chair of NZ On Air and Nicole Hoey as a member.

Neil Walter has been the chair since January 2007 and Nicole Hoey has been a member of NZ On Air for three years.

Neil Walter is a former Secretary of Foreign Affairs with extensive diplomatic and senior departmental experience. He has considerable Crown governance expertise, currently also chairing the Government House advisory board, the Department of Conservation’s Risk and Assurance Committee, and the NZDF’s Medal Review Panel. Former appointments include member of the Ministerial advisory committee on biosecurity, chair of the Environmental Risk Management Authority, co-leading the Securities Commission Effectiveness Review, the review of the New Zealand Police Assurance Committee, and leading the enquiry into Government Shared Network project for the State Services Commissioner.

Nicole Hoey (Ngati Kau, Te Aupouri) is a producer who runs an independent production company, Cinco Cine Film Productions. Her company produces drama, documentary and children’s television programming, including programmes such as Korero Mai and Pukana. Nicole has 20 years of industry experience making television commercials, drama, documentaries and youth and children’s programmes both domestically and internationally. She is a former president of the Screen Production and Development Association (SPADA).

Neil Walter is reappointed for a three-year term from 1 December 2009 to 31 November 2012 and Nicole Hoey’s reappointment term commenced 1 November 2009 and continues to 30 October 2012.
