Minister must meet with parents of kids with
cancer
Health Minister Tony Ryall should front up to the parents of children with cancer who are desperately worried about the future of cancer care in Wellington, says Labour’s health spokesperson Ruth Dyson.
“Parents I’ve spoken to are deeply concerned about proposed changes to the level of care available for their children in the capital. They want the chance to express those concerns directly to the Minister but he is refusing to listen.
“Tony Ryall told Parliament today that he’d already met with the parents affected. But I believe the parents who say he has not agreed to a meeting.
“Continued uncertainty and delay in hearing what cancer services will be available to children in Wellington puts additional strain on families who deserve better.
“The Health Minister owes it to parents to front up at the very least and explain his change in position about children’s cancer care in Wellington.”
