Long Question Time To Open Parliament Today
After
Question time today MPs will hold the first reading debate
on the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service Amendment
Bill.
Question Time includes Labour MPs asking 24
questions to the chairs of select committees in addition to
the usual 12 to ministers.
The questions ask how many
submissions have been received on a number of bills and
other select committee business.
It is unusual for so many
questions to be asked of members, but under Standing Orders
there are no limits placed upon numbers, but there are
strict rules about both the nature of the questions and
answers.
