New appointments to Film and Literature Board of Review

Minister of Internal Affairs Nathan Guy has appointed Guy Royal, Garth Gallaway and Kate Davenport to the Film and Literature Board of Review.

The Board is an independent statutory appeal body which reviews decisions made by the Office of Film and Literature Classification. Publications covered include films, video recordings, DVDs, books, magazines and computer-based material.

“All three appointees have a broad range of experience and expertise which will help them in this important role,” says Mr Guy.

Mr Royal of Wellington works as the Managing Director for Tuia Group, a business consultancy firm. He is a commercial lawyer and has experience advising on corporate governance and commercial issues.

Mr Gallaway of Christchurch is a partner in the law firm Duncan Cotterill. He has over 20 years experience as a solicitor and is also involved in various arts and charity endeavours. He has been a cricket commentator on Radio Sport for the last 15 years.

Ms Davenport of Auckland has been a barrister since 1989 and wide experience serving on various boards and disciplinary tribunals.

All new members have been appointed for a term of three years.
