Following Question Time, the
General Debate will be held and private bills are scheduled
to make progress.
First on the Order Paper is the committee stage
debate of the Hamilton City Council (Parana Park) Land
Vesting Bill, followed by the second reading of the Royal
Society of New Zealand Amendment Bill.
If these are
completed MPs will return to the committee stage of the
Education (Freedom of Association) Amendment
Bill.

During the years of the Key government one hardy perennial of political journalism was that whenever the Labour Opposition would suggest a policy alternative to the status quo, the hard bitten response from the Gallery realists would be “But how’re you gonna pay for it?” National in Opposition has been almost entirely spared that level of sceptical scrutiny.
