MANA AGM

"I'm really looking forward to MANA's first AGM this weekend" said Hone Harawira, Tai Tokerau MP and leader of the MANA Movement.

The meeting will be held at Piringatahi Marae in West Harbour, Auckland this Saturday starting at 9am and running through till 6pm in the evening.

"We've got people coming in from all round the country with one aim in mind - getting set for a solid election campaign," said Harawira. "A lot of our focus will be on how to maximise our party vote, but we'll also be deciding whether to stand in the Maori seats and which General seats we want to target.

"We will also be discussing potential candidates, and I've been really humbled by the quality of people who've put their hands up. They include people well-known for standing up for the rights of workers and the poor, Maori rights and environmental issues as well.

"I'm disappointed that the media has gone along with John Key's demand that political debates be reduced to only 2 party leaders, because I think New Zealanders deserve to know who has the answers to rising food, petrol, and power prices, rising unemployment, cuts in social spending, and making sure everyone pays a fair share.

"I think MANA has the policies and the team to make the difference, and we aim to go into this campaign putting our best foot forward."

Media will be welcome to attend the powhiri at Piringatahi Marae from 9am-9.30am Sat 6 Aug 2011, and the press conference which will be held at 3pm that afternoon.
