Labour Leader visits South Auckland

Labour Leader Phil Goff will travel to South Auckland tomorrow on a series of visits related to skills training, creating job opportunities and coping with the rising cost of living.

“Youth unemployment is at an all-time high. There are 58,000 Kiwis aged between 15 and 24 who are not in work, education or training.

“Our young people are being thrown on the unemployment scrapheap. We can’t let that continue. Labour will help young people get the training they need so they can transition from education into jobs.

“Labour is also committed to helping New Zealanders who are struggling with the rising cost of living. We are listening to their concerns and have a plan to help them.

“Our plan to allow people to earn the first $5000 tax-free, to take all the GST off fresh fruit and vegetables and to lift the minimum wage to $15 an hour will put more money in the pockets of Kiwis who are feeling the financial squeeze,” said Phil Goff.
