Labour Leader visits West Auckland

Labour Leader Phil Goff will travel to West Auckland tomorrow on a series of visits related to early childhood education and supporting families who are struggling with the rising cost of living.

"Many Kiwi families are struggling to pay the bills at the moment. The cost of everyday living is going up - from power bills to food and petrol costs Some children are going to school hungry and parents are worried about how they'll be able to afford to keep their kids in crèche, kindy or Kohanga Reo, with fees rising under National.

"Labour is committed to supporting Kiwi families who are feeling the financial squeeze. We are listening to their concerns and have a plan to help them.

"Our policies to allow people to earn the first $5000 tax-free, to take all the GST off fresh fruit and vegetables and to lift the minimum wage to $15 an hour will put more money in the pockets of Kiwis facing tough times," Phil Goff said.
