Jacqui Te Kani Leaves a Lasting Legacy for Kiwi Women

New Zealand First offers its condolences to the family of respected Maori elder Jacqui Te Kani who died in Wellington Hospital last night.

Rt Hon Winston Peters says Jacqui had earned the respect of her peers through her work helping New Zealand women, especially Maori women.

“She not only held the position of general manager of the Maori Women’s Welfare League but was also a prominent figure in other organisations associated with economic development for Maori women, language and broadcasting.

“Her loss will be felt by many people across society but her enduring legacy will live on within the community,” says Mr Peters.
