Inconsistencies and Contradictions from the PM’s Office
Parliamentary questions have revealed major inconsistencies in statements by the Prime Minister and his Chief of Staff regarding the Henry Inquiry, claims New Zealand First leader Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“The Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Wayne Eagleson has denied that he had any involvement in "authorising or influencing the release of any further information" after 23 May 2013.
“However, Mr Eagleson’s statement contradicts an answer the Prime Minister gave to a written parliamentary question dated 13 June.
“Mr Key stated that Mr Eagleson was involved in discussions over the period 27 May – 4 June which “focused on Mr Dunne complying with the request from David Henry to release email correspondence.”
Mr Peters says both statements cannot be correct.
“Either Mr Eagleson was involved after 23 May or he wasn’t,” says Mr Peters.
