Helping kids thrive with Extraordinary Care Grants
Coromandel MP Scott Simpson says extra grants are being made available to help children who’re being raised by extended family to reach their full potential.
Scott Simpson MP says ‘Here in the Coromandel, there are children are living with their grandparents and extended families for many complicated reasons. And we want to make sure they thrive.’
He says ‘So that’s why the Government is offering Extraordinary Care Fund grants to give a financial boost for children who may need it, whether they’re showing great potential at sports or music, or need extra tuition. They deserve to become the best they can be.’
Around 12,700 children in New Zealand are being looked after by extended family members, and from next week, letters will be posted out to carers advising them when and how to apply.
