Green Party welcomes changes to
MPs’ salary setting rules
It’s good that the
Government has listened to New Zealanders and announced a
fairer way to set MPs’ salaries, the Green Party said
today.
“We’ve been pushing for a fairer system for
setting MPs’ pay for a long time and we’re glad that the
Government has listened,” Green Party Co-leader Metiria
Turei said.
“We’ve argued for MPs’ salaries to be
linked to the nominal median income, and we still think this
is the best option, but linking them to public sector
incomes is a definite improvement on the current
system.
“The Green Party policy is that MPs’ salaries
should increase or decrease by the same dollar amount that
the median individual income increases or
decreases.”

Gordon Campbell: On The Risk Of Being Short Changed By Pfizer
Who knew that the delivery of the Covid vaccines was going to be such a headache? All the predictions had been around the likely distribution problems. Would there be enough trained vaccinators around the country, a sufficient number of medical glass vials, a sufficiently robust “cold chain” to safely store the vaccines out in the field? All those issues remain. Currently though, production and delivery concerns are also hovering over whether the drug companies will live up to their contractual commitments, on time... More>>
