Our sympathies go to the people of Singapore on the death of Lee Kuan Yew, says New Zealand First Leader and Northland by-election candidate Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“Lee Kuan Yew gained the respect and admiration of his people and the informed world for his visionary plans for a small island nation. With its only resource being its people he made it a standout First World economy with few peers.
“I had the privilege of spending some time with him and learning of the priorities he placed on the economic and social development of Singapore.
“It would be one of the most valuable meetings one could ever have.”
