Another Slap in the Face for Our Teachers
Another Slap in the Face for Our Teachers
Education
Minister Hekia Parata told a Te Awamutu audience yesterday
that if teaching was a “higher-performing profession”
it would attract more men.
“Really Minister! How many ways can you insult our teachers currently working within the profession?” asks New Zealand First Spokesperson for Women and Education Tracey Martin.
“What makes the Minister’s statement even more distressing is that it minimises women’s contribution to our internationally recognised teaching and learning environment.
“The fact that the Minister for Education, who was once the Minister for Women’s Affairs, could make a statement like this is of real concern for New Zealand First,” says Mrs Martin.
