Flag Referendum Gets Hit Hard in New Poll

The latest Campbell Live text poll confirms it is time for the Prime Minister to listen to the public and shelve his flag referendum, says the New Zealand First Leader Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“Tonight, 88 per cent of 25,000 voters said ‘no, we don’t want your flag referendum’,” says Mr Peters.

“Since the advertising for this unnecessary and disrespectful waste of money started, the no vote has grown.

“Mr Key is being stubborn, even refusing to give the public what ought to be the first referendum question, “Do you want to change the flag, yes or no?

“It is no wonder the first flag consultation meeting this week was a flop with fewer than 10 people turning up,” says Mr Peters.

“With ‘Stand for’ adverts running we asked the Deputy Prime Minister how much the actors or people appearing in them were paid.

“He dodged the question on pay but confirmed they are actors. No one is doing this out of conviction but because they will be paid.

“Kiwis can see right through this charade and polls show it,” says Mr Peters.
