Bishop congratulates Dowse Director on Churchill Fellowship

Chris Bishop, National List MP based in the Hutt Valley, has congratulated the Director of The Dowse Art Museum, Courtney Johnson, on her award of a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust travel grant to study and travel in the United States.

Ms Johnson was awarded $7,500, one of only 15 people in New Zealand to be successful in their application. The grant will allow her the opportunity to learn from outstanding museums and galleries similar to the Dowse and bring those experiences back to help her work in the Hutt.

“The Dowse Art Museum is a tremendous asset for the Hutt, loved by Hutt locals and tourists to the area alike. It inspires, educates, and entertains

“The Churchill Fellowship is a wonderful chance for Courtney to learn from the best and strengthen not only our local Hutt Valley arts and culture facilities, but also more widely the cultural sector”,

“Courtney is yet another example of the inspiring leadership and skills being nurtured in the Hutt Valley and I wish her all the best for her studies,” says Mr Bishop.

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (WCMT) was established in 1965 with funds from both the government and the public. Fellowships assist New Zealanders to travel overseas, to learn from others and study topics that will help them to increase their contribution to the community, and advance their trade, industry, profession or business.
