Playing Politics with the Flag

Rt Hon Winston Peters
New Zealand First Leader
Member of Parliament for Northland

Playing Politics with the Flag

The Prime Minister is the person who has been playing politics from the word go in trying to change the New Zealand Flag, says New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“He now realises his mission to establish a cheap legacy is falling apart. It did so from the beginning when he realised his first option was akin to the ISIS flag.

“He has ignored our values, culture and good taste. New Zealand First refused to join the multi-party committee because the referendum is waste of time and money and we were right,” says Mr Peters.

“What emerged was not the silver fern which some New Zealanders are attracted to, but a fern that can be found in most places around the world.

“The Prime Minister is now considering the Red Peak option, which is branding, design and colours of a US business. That’s totally undignified.”
