Jono Naylor looking for young person to represent Palmerston North at Youth Parliament in Wellington

Can you see a future for yourself as an MP? Or are you are just curious about how Parliament works? Here is your chance to have your voice heard and to experience first-hand how decisions are made that impact all of New Zealand.

Young people are now invited to apply to take up the title, and responsibility of Youth MP for Palmerston North and to attend Youth Parliament held in July during Parliament’s recess next year.

If successful, you will join 121 other youth MPs selected to engage with and represent their community from January 2016 – and put your experience to practice at Youth Parliament to be held on 19-20 July 2016.

To apply, you need to create a 90 second video on the topic Why I want to be a Youth MP and upload it to my Facebook page www.Facebook.com/JonoNaylor1 Nominations are now open and close on Friday 2 October.

“I want to hear from young people who are willing to get out and engage with the youth in their community to gather their views and represent them in Parliament” says Jono Naylor.

Youth Parliament 2016 is a one-in-three year opportunity for young New Zealanders to share their views and the views of their peers with the country’s decision-makers.

Youth Parliament gives young people the opportunity to understand and participate in Parliament and the decision-making process.

Nominated Youth MPs will hold the title from 25 January to 25 July 2016. They are expected to engage with their community during this time, so all New Zealand youth have the opportunity to have their voice heard.
