UnitedFuture announces key policy themes

UnitedFuture leader, Peter Dunne, today announced three core policy areas UnitedFuture will be focusing on in the lead-up to the next election.

"UnitedFuture has always advocated sensible policy reform," said Mr Dunne.

"Today we are announcing three key areas that we believe are the most important for New Zealand now, and into the future.

"We want an economy that provides fairness, choice and opportunity, meaning that we need to look at issues like smarter ways of ensuring superannuation and support for vulnerable and working families in the future."

"We need to be taking our environment more seriously and putting conservation at the heart of policy making in this area.

"That means establishing core environmental bottom lines that allow us to future-proof our outstanding landscapes, and having the boldness to address issues like climate change and its environmental social, and economic consequences.

"And, perhaps most critically right now, we need to not only embrace but also celebrate a modern, multi-cultural, New Zealand.

"That means we will stand against the type of politics that uses fearmongering as a tool of debate when discussing immigration and it means we need to take our place as compassionate global citizens and rethink how we respond to the refugee crisis our world currently faces."

“We will fight bigotry and intolerance, wherever it occurs, and however it is promoted,”

“These three themes will drive the party's focus as it reviews policy for the next election,” Said Mr Dunne.
