Green Party MPs will be present to support Pike River families and supporters as they reveal a new plan to safely re-enter the mine drift.

“We stand with the Pike River families and support their calls for the mine drift to be re-entered safely,” Green Party workplace relations and safety spokesperson Denise Roche said.

“Any reasonable government would take this new re-entry plan seriously.

“Justice is yet to be done for the 29 men who lost their lives in 2010, and their families,” said Ms Roche.

The new re-entry plan has been developed by international mining experts David Creedy, Vice Chair of the UN Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane, and Bob Stevenson, former UK Principal Mines Inspector.
