Report on Mental Health Shows Need for Review
Mental health services in New Zealand have reached crisis point, says New Zealand First.
“The release of a report by the People’s Mental Health Review confirms what we know, our mental health services cannot cope with the demand,” says New Zealand First Health Spokesperson, Barbara Stewart.
“Something must be done now to ensure that Kiwis are getting the help they need, when they need it.
“New Zealanders are falling through the cracks after years of government underfunding, the overwhelming level of immigration and a lack of leadership from a Minister of Health who appears to have given up.
“The government can no longer paper over the cracks.
“This report and its recommendations need to be taken seriously and a review needs to happen immediately,” says Mrs Stewart.
