Levin To Benefit From Extended After-Hours Healthcare Under Budget 2025

Access to urgent and after-hours healthcare is being expanded across the country including in Levin as part of Budget 2025, Ōtaki MP Tim Costley says.

“Extended hours mean more people in our communities can access care during the evenings and weekends – instead of waiting until Monday or travelling to emergency departments.

“Budget 2025 invests $164 million over four years to strengthen urgent and after-hours healthcare nationwide. As part of this investment, an extended after-hours service has been identified for Levin, with new weekend services that will make it easier for locals to get help when they need it most.

“These improvements are about providing timely care closer to home – particularly for families, shift workers, and older people who may find it difficult to get to the doctor during standard business hours.”

The new and improved services will roll out over the next two years, alongside continued support for existing clinics and a more sustainable approach to local health delivery.

“This National-led Government is investing more in health than ever before, with a record $16.68 billion across three Budgets. This investment is about putting patients first by strengthening healthcare services nationwide, to meet local needs and reduce wait times.

“This is a major step toward a healthcare system that works for everyone, ensuring all New Zealanders – including those in Horowhenua – have access to timely, quality urgent care, no matter where they live.”
