The Minister for Enterprise and Commerce, Hon Max Bradford, today announced the reappointment of Hutton Peacock as Chairman of the Higher Salaries Commission.

Mr Peacock has been reappointed for a further 3-year term until September 2002.

The Higher Salaries Commission is responsible for determining the salaries paid to Members of Parliament and the Judiciary, as well as to other senior public sector positions.

Appointments to the commission are made by the Governor-General by Order in Council for terms of up to three years.

Mr Peacock has some 35 years experience in the insurance and superannuation industries, mainly in the actuarial field, but also in senior management.

He was appointed to the commission in 1996, prior to which he was a consulting actuary with the firm of William M. Mercer Ltd., and served on several boards.

These included the Central Hawkes Bay Electric Power Board and the Trust House Board. Mr Peacock has been a trustee of the Global Retirement Trust and Chair of the Central Regional Health Authority.
