Moore Achievement Good For NZ - Peters
23 July 1999
New Zealand First has welcomed the
appointment Mike Moore as Director-General of the World
Trade Organisation.
The Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters, said today that Mr Moore had done a “marvelous” job in being successful and had earned the congratulations of the entire country.
“Whether you believe in the World Trade Organisation or not, we’ve got somebody who’s only a phone call away, and so the appointment is good for New Zealand.
“Mike Moore has considerable experience and has done a credible job as Minister of Trade. He now has the chance to put that experience into effect not only for the World Trade Organisation, but also his country.
“It is also very good for this country’s credibility to have a New Zealander in such a high position on the world stage”. Mr Peters said.
