Robyn Mcdonald Says Liquor Vote Does Nothing For Coromandel Families
New Zealand First MP Hon Robyn McDonald has accused the MP’s who voted for lowering the drinking age of doing grave harm to Coromandel families, especially young people.
“I and all other New Zealand First MPs voted strongly against this bill.
“Our country’s record of alcohol-related domestic violence, youth crime, and car accidents is already shocking.
“We will all bear the cost of further liberalisation.
“We will pay with young lives and the further breakdown of family values”, said Robyn McDonald.
“Coromandel families told me they wanted the status quo to stay. I listened and voted accordingly.
“This is simply big-business driven and the impact will be on local families and smaller Coromandel businesses.
“But the fight is not over yet. This bill still needs to go before a Parliamentary committee and a third reading in the House.
“I urge Coromandel residents to petition Parliament. Tell them you don’t want this bill to become law.
“I will be saying no. You must too”.
