An outstanding Maori woman has been selected as the New Zealand First candidate for the new Waiariki electorate.

Ms Baker worked for the Clerical Workers Union and the New Zealand Post Primary Teachers Association as a Field Officer before joining Te Puni Kokiri.

Her current position as a Senior Analyst in the Social Policy Branch, Te Puni Kokiri, has allowed Ms Baker to deepen her understanding of the social, economic and educational problems facing Maori.

She has a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Education, and is currently submitting her thesis for her Masters degree.
