Police Review cost $13m and counting
The cost of the Police
Review is now over $13 million, Labour police spokesperson
George Hawkins revealed today.
"With the INCIS computer project looking even less likely to deliver the efficiency gains it was supposed to, the Review looks even more like an expensive debacle," says Mr Hawkins.
The figures are in Police Minister Clem Simich's answers to written Parliamentary questions from Mr Hawkins.
They show the Police Review team cost $2,646,685 to the end of July. District project teams cost a further $1,540,000. Voluntary severance and redundancy costs have hit $8,886,246. The total is $13,072,931.
"The Review has cut senior,
experienced staff and replaced them with raw recruits," Mr
Hawkins says. "It has demoralised the Force and it's costing
a fortune. Add that to the $30 million blowout on INCIS and
you're looking at one of National's all-time champion
cock-ups."
